This is part of the Bank’s broader strategy to drive financial inclusion, support economic growth, and deliver seamless banking solutions to the communities it serves.

The move underscores the Bank’s commitment to driving financial inclusion, supporting economic growth, and delivering seamless banking solutions to the communities it serves.

Speaking at the grand opening of the new branch, Moses Muthui, Consumer Banking Director at Absa Bank Kenya, emphasized the Bank’s dedication to improving financial accessibility and providing customer-centric solutions tailored to the evolving needs of its clients.

“This relocation is a direct response to customer feedback and a testament to our commitment to accessibility and economic empowerment. It reinforces our brand promise of *Your Story Matters* while addressing the desires of our customers in their financial journeys,” said Muthui.

“With Gilgil’s dynamic mining, agriculture, and hospitality sectors, this branch is well-positioned to drive growth for both consumers and SMEs, spurring economic development in the region.”

The new branch will serve individuals and businesses in Gilgil, a bustling commercial hub in Nakuru County with a population of approximately 80,079, according to the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census.

Known for its diatomite mining, agricultural production, and tourist attractions like the Kariandusi Prehistoric site, Gilgil is a key economic driver in the region.

Muthui added, “We are committed to empowering unbanked and underserved communities through innovative branch services, agency banking, and digital platforms, ensuring a seamless banking experience anytime, anywhere.”

The relocation of the Gilgil branch is part of Absa Bank Kenya’s broader network expansion strategy. Last year, the Bank opened new branches in Kamakis and Rupa’s Mall in Eldoret, while also relocating its Migori and Imaara Mall branches to improve service delivery.

These efforts align with the Bank’s goal of bringing financial services closer to its customers. In addition to expanding its physical presence, Absa Bank Kenya has been actively supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the region.

Last year, the Bank hosted numerous entrepreneurs during the Wezesha Biashara Caravan, an initiative aimed at empowering SMEs to scale and grow their businesses.

“By moving closer to our customers, we aim to provide unmatched financial solutions that meet their evolving needs. This move also reflects our commitment to empowering the community socially, economically, and environmentally through our recently launched Absa Kenya Foundation,” Muthui stated.

Through the entrepreneurship pillar of the Absa Kenya Foundation, the Bank will continue to support entrepreneurs in Gilgil and beyond. The Foundation focuses on enterprise development, helping informal businesses transition into formal, bankable entities with long-term commercial viability.

The relocation of the Gilgil branch not only strengthens Absa Bank Kenya’s presence in the region but also highlights its dedication to fostering economic growth, financial inclusion, and community empowerment.

As the Bank continues to expand its footprint, it remains steadfast in its mission to deliver innovative and customer-focused banking solutions.
