Airtel Kenya has unveiled new Unlimited Home Broadband 5G Data Plans as part of its network expansion update on 11 June 2024, aimed at providing customers with uninterrupted connectivity and superior reliability on the 5G network.
Designed to meet a variety of consumer needs in both residential and business environments, these cutting-edge plans are set to transform the way people in Kenya stay connected in the modern digital age.
Airtel’s 5G network was launched in the middle of last year, initially with 372 sites in 16 districts and 180 wards across the country. Since then, the network has expanded significantly to over 690 sites in 39 districts and 285 wards across the country.
To mark this milestone, and in response to the remarkable uptake of the 5G network and increased demand for 5G home internet solutions, the company has launched unlimited 5G home broadband plans for home users seeking an unparalleled 5G experience.
“We are pleased to introduce Airtel Kenya’s Unlimited Plans,” said Ashish Malhotra, Managing Director, Airtel Kenya. “They signify our commitment to providing unmatched connectivity solutions and embody our vision for individuals and businesses empowered by seamless connectivity.”
At the present, Airtel’s network covers 89% of Kenya’s population. Airtel is committed to expanding its network infrastructure and plans to reach 94% coverage by the end of 2024, ensuring that more people can enjoy the benefits of reliable connectivity.
“At Airtel, we are steadfast in our dedication to supporting digital inclusion, and we are encouraged by the market’s response to our offerings. We are confident that our ongoing network expansion will enable us to extend connectivity to more communities nationwide, ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital revolution,” Mr. Malhotra added.
The Unlimited plans have three tiers: 10 Mbps for Kes 3,500 per month, 20 Mbps for Kes 5,000 per month and 30 Mbps for Kes 6,500 per month. The plans require an Airtel 5G router, which is available at all Airtel stores for Kes 2,999.

In addition to unlimited data, the value of the Unlimited 5G plans is further enhanced by an innovative, first-of-its-kind power backup that comes with the Airtel 5G router, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for up to 5 hours even during power outages.
Customers can purchase the 5G routers at any Airtel shop across the country. Alternatively, they can order one through the Airtel Kenya website or dial *400# for home delivery of the 5G router.
One can purchase or renew their unlimited data plans by dialling *400# or through MyAirtel App. For support, Airtel customers will call 400 and non-Airtel customers can reach out to the support team through 0733100400.
Airtel is currently in the process of expanding its network and aims to deploy close to 1000 sites by the end of the year.
This expansion is the largest ever undertaken by Airtel Kenya and is focused on improving coverage in urban areas as well as connecting rural communities.
The North Eastern region of the country will be a primary focus for this network expansion.
