Azimio la Umoja co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has said that he is considering the option of seeking justice at the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the violence witnessed during the anti-finance bill protests on Tuesday, June 25th.
While addressing the media at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on Friday, where he had gone to visit the victims, Kalonzo said that the government was heartless after using brutal force against the protesters.
“In my view as senior counsel, we are going to document every case and perhaps even revisit the ICC and this time talk to them about atrocities committed against the Kenyan people by a regime which is heartless. We are yet to be told who are the financiers of this organic youth movement,” Kalonzo stated.

The Wiper leader went on to say that Kenyans were unhappy with what happened on Tuesday, adding that he would be surprised if the president was happy.
He also called out the government spokesperson, the Inspector General of Police and the Nairobi Police Commander for their silence since the violent protests.
“I don’t think there’s any Kenyan who’s feeling happy today. I don’t even think President William Ruto himself is feeling happy, because I would be shocked if he was. As a parent, how does he wake up every morning and imagine what happened? And yet not a word from the government spokesperson, Police IG, and Nairobi police boss since the happenings on Tuesday,” Kalonzo remarked.
The leader of the Wiper party called on the president to intervene and stop the violence against young Kenyans, suggesting that the head of state may have authorized the use of lethal force.
“It is obvious that the President must have given the directive to shoot to kill because those snipers could not have blown up the brains of the young people we saw at the mortuary the other day,” Kalonzo stated.
His comments come amid the High Court’s approval of the deployment of KDF soldiers to control demonstrations against the Finance Bill.
