Acclaimed American actor Omari Hardwick, best known for his iconic role as Ghost in the hit series Power, joined the cast of Chocolate Empire, a new Showmax Original, for an exclusive fireside chat event today at CCI Kenya.

The star-studded gathering brought together industry experts, filmmakers, and local actors for a vibrant exchange of ideas and experiences.

Hardwick, who has become a global symbol of excellence in storytelling, shared his insights on navigating the entertainment industry and the universal power of authentic narratives. “Kenya’s vibrant creative industry has so much to offer,” he said. “I’m thrilled to have connected with so many talented individuals during my time here. Storytelling in this region is deeply authentic and resonates universally. It’s a reminder that our stories, no matter where they are told, can impact and inspire globally.”
The event also showcased the cast of Chocolate Empire, the highly anticipated Showmax Original set to premiere on March 20, 2025. The series stars veteran actor Jimmy Gathu and singer-actress Sanaipei Tande, who were among the local talents who graced the occasion.
Chocolate Empire follows the story of JB Mauzo (played by Gathu), a once-powerful businessman who rebuilds his life after prison while secretly running a high-end escort service from his exclusive cigar club. The series promises to deliver gripping drama and complex characters, reflecting the richness of African storytelling.
Jimmy Gathu, reflecting on the event, emphasized the importance of cross-cultural collaboration. “Having Omari here is a powerful reminder that storytelling transcends borders,” he said. “His insights into character development and the dedication required to bring a role to life are invaluable. It’s inspiring to see Showmax facilitate these kinds of interactions, which are crucial for the growth of our industry.”
