DNA and KIKAO Youth Movement Unite to Reshape Kenya’s Political Future

By Eddah Waithaka

The Democratic National Alliance (DNA) has joined forces with the KIKAO Youth Movement in a bold move to redefine youth political participation in Kenya.

The historic merger establishes DNA as the official political home for young leaders, with KIKAO’s grassroots network forming the core of the newly launched DNA Youth Movement.

DNA Party Leader Hon. Godfrey Kanoti announced the partnership at a press briefing in Nairobi, emphasizing the urgent need for youth empowerment.

“Today marks a revolutionary moment,” Kanoti declared. “The union of DNA and KIKAO signals that Kenya’s youth are no longer knocking on doors, they are opening their own.”

Bright Shitemi, CEO and Chairperson of KIKAO, reinforced the movement’s mission, stating, “This partnership injects fresh, audacious leadership into Kenya’s politics. Together, we will change the DNA of our nation’s governance.”

Youth Take Key Leadership Roles

In a strong demonstration of its commitment to youth inclusion, DNA has appointed KIKAO leaders to key positions within the party.

Chepkoech Towett as Deputy Party Leader, Bright Shitemi as Deputy National Chairperson, Stanley Muchiri as Secretary for Public Policy & Economic Affairs, James Okumu as Secretary for Political Affairs, Eugene Ochieng as Secretary for Mobilization & Fundraising, and Jagero Oduor as Secretary for Publicity & Information.

Kanoti highlighted Kenya’s youth crisis, citing 35% unemployment and recent attacks on young activists.

“Young Kenyans face abductions, torture, and killings for speaking out. This is about survival,” he said.

Rejecting tokenism, Kanoti declared, “DNA isn’t just welcoming youth, we are investing in them.”

With KIKAO’s presence in 40 counties, the merger strengthens DNA’s grassroots reach ahead of 2027.

The Youth Tsunami is Coming

The DNA Youth Movement will drive political education, mentorship, and leadership development.

Kanoti issued a rallying cry, “You are not the future, you are the present. 2027 will be the Youth Tsunami. Will you ride the wave or watch it pass?” The message is clear: Kenya’s youth are stepping into power.
