Eastmatt Supermarkets proudly opened its 11th branch today in Baba Dogo, a significant accomplishment in the company’s ongoing mission to support underserved communities throughout Kenya. This new store exemplifies Eastmatt’s dedication to delivering affordable, high-quality products and convenient shopping experiences in markets where price sensitivity is a key concern.
During the event, Morris Kiunge, Head of Marketing at Eastmatt, emphasized the supermarket’s comprehensive “full basket” product range, which includes fresh produce, groceries, household essentials, and baked goods.
“Eastmatt stands out by oering some of the lowest prices among leading retail chains,
delivering both choice and aordability to the people of Ruaraka,” he said.
Teresa Mwangi, the Human Capital Manager, underscored the economic significance of Eastmatt, pointing out that the company directly employs over 750 staff and supports many additional jobs through its supply chain. She also reflected on the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which made the opening of the Baba Dogo outlet an especially rewarding milestone.
Local resident Anne Wangari, one of the first customers to shop at the new store, commended Eastmatt for its competitive pricing and wide selection, highlighting the beneficial impact it will have on budget-conscious consumers.
The CEO of Eastmatt marked the occasion by reflecting on the company’s growth journey, which began in Eastleigh in 1994 and has since expanded throughout Kenya, culminating in the opening of the Baba Dogo outlet.
Throughout its development, Eastmatt has become a trusted household name, successfully navigating challenges such as the 2018 fire at the Mfangano branch. The company has also adapted to changing customer needs by implementing innovative services, including the newly launched milk ATM.
