Elegant, outspoken, and unapologetically fierce, Dr. Catherine “Dr. C” Masitsa never shrinks from the spotlight. Now, the commanding star of The Real Housewives of Nairobi flies the Kenyan flag onto a continental stage in The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa, Showmax’s new reality crossover.
The series jets some of Africa’s most dynamic housewives to Brazil for a luxury adventure. In an exclusive interview, Dr. C pulls back the curtain on the glamour, the drama, and the unexpected reunions waiting for viewers.
The Call to Adventure“Stepping out of Nairobi for the Ultimate Girls Trip electrified me,” Dr. C says of the invitation. “An all-expenses-paid trip to a vibrant, beautiful destination is a dream.
Flying the Kenyan flag alongside other formidable African women felt monumental.”But the veteran reality star entered with a strategy. “I worried about potential drama.
My mantra was: Stay true to myself, be polite but firm, and find genuine connections amongst the chaos. Focusing on enjoying the once-in-a-lifetime experience in Brazil anchored me.”
A Shocking Reunion
The season delivers a seismic moment for RHON fans: Dr. C’s first encounter with Zena since their explosive Season 2 altercation.“I was completely unprepared. I nearly passed out, literally,” Dr. C reveals.
“I had no idea she would be there. The sight of her triggered intense emotions. I chose peace. I whispered straight into her ear: ‘Tutaenda nyumbani Kenya tukapigane huko tafadhali, sio hapa.’ (We’ll go home to Kenya and fight there, please, not here.)”Has time healed the rift? “We can now have a sensible conversation,” Dr. C states.
“We finally listen without shouting. She understands the issues were never about her as a person, but about the need to stop glamorizing behavior that harms women body-shaming, calling women witches. My fight against that normalization continues, fiercely.”
Therapy, Growth, and Preparing for FireDr. C credits therapy after RHON Season 2 for her fortified mindset. “The constant negativity and personal attacks took a toll. I needed to process that overwhelmingly negative energy. Therapy focused on self-awareness: identifying triggers, managing reactions with calm, protecting my energy. It prepared me for Ultimate Girls Trip.”
Forged in Brazil: Bonds That Survived
Amidst the carnival heat, Dr. C forged powerful alliances. She calls her bond with Johannesburg’s Madam Evoria “truly special.”
“We speak often about our children, businesses, and families. I loved our conflicts. She is principled, I am formidable, but we operate from fundamental respect. We plan to visit soon.”
She also connected with Lagos’s Mariam. “She is incredibly balanced and calm. We follow each other closely and offer mutual support.”
The Verdict: Malindi on Steroids
If she had to describe the season in one emoji? “The explosion emoji. 💥”And would she do it again? “Absolutely! My bags are packed already. The producers know talent and good television. They know this blend of African powerhouse women creates fire. They will need me back.”
For Kenyan viewers, she promises a revelation. “Expect Malindi on Steroids. On RHON, you saw the business mogul, the formidable force. Here, you meet the ratchet, unadulterated Dr. C. This trip brought out a spontaneous, carefree side. You’ll see the energy of true freedom dancing on tables, fully embracing Brazil’s carnival spirit.”
She offers a final teaser: “Forget prim wine tastings. That moment of pole dancing in a party bus? It’s about dropping all inhibitions, living in the moment, surrounded by African sisterhood.”
Catch Dr. C in The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa, streaming this Friday only on Showmax.
