Government Spokesperson Hon. (Dr.) Isaac Mwaura today clarified critical national matters, dismissing claims of political persecution, affirming diplomatic relations, and outlining key development initiatives.
Recent Arrests Based on Conduct, Not Politics
Dr. Mwaura stated that law enforcement agencies arrested individuals, including MP Peter Salasya, due to their actions, not political affiliation. He dismissed allegations of political targeting as false propaganda.
Law Enforcement Applies to All
Responding to reports of heightened security near former Deputy President residences, Dr. Mwaura emphasized that no one is above the law. He said the government will uphold legal procedures regardless of a person’s political influence.
Kenya-Tanzania Ties Remain Strong
The spokesperson assured the public that Kenya maintains strong diplomatic relations with Tanzania. He clarified that Tanzania’s deportation of Martha Karua was a sovereign decision, not influenced by political motives.
Opposition Leaders Free to Travel
Dr. Mwaura noted that several opposition figures have traveled without restrictions, proving the government does not interfere with political movement.

Civil Society Must Uphold Truth
He criticized some civil society groups for spreading misinformation, particularly regarding the government spokesperson’s budget and the “Blood Parliament” documentary. He urged them to prioritize accuracy and objectivity.
Hustler Fund Empowers Millions
Highlighting the success of the Hustler Fund, Dr. Mwaura revealed that over 24 million Kenyans have accessed it, with more than 7 million using its savings feature. He linked the initiative to Kenya’s Harambee spirit of collective progress.
Affordable Housing Project Advances
President William Ruto will commission 1,080 housing units in Mukuru on May 20 under the Affordable Housing Program. The project, which will deliver over 13,000 units, has already created 160,000 jobs. Monthly payments start at just KSh 3,494.
Education Reforms Expand Opportunities
The government will recruit 24,000 new teachers, implement Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET), and expand the National Open University of Kenya, which now has over 3,500 students.
Dr. Mwaura reaffirmed the government’s commitment to development, rule of law, and economic empowerment.
