Hon. Mary Emaase Champions Women’s Economic Empowerment in Teso North

Teso South Member of Parliament Hon. Mary Emaase has reaffirmed her commitment to advancing women’s economic empowerment, describing it as a cornerstone of sustainable community development.

Speaking during the Economic Women Empowerment event for Teso North Sub County, Hon. Emaase emphasized that empowering women economically creates a ripple effect that strengthens families, enhances livelihoods, and uplifts entire communities.

The event brought together several national and local leaders, including National Assembly Speaker Moses Masika Wetang’ula, Hon. Farouk T. Kibet, Hon. Oku Kaunya, Busia Woman Representative Hon. Catherine Omanyo, Hon. Tindi Mwale, and Hon. Nabii Nabwera, among others.

Hon. Emaase commended the collaborative spirit that defined the event, noting that the joint contributions made toward women’s economic initiatives marked an important milestone in advancing affirmative action and inclusion.

She said that when women are empowered financially, the positive impact is felt within family units and cascades to society at large.

The legislator expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the initiative, describing it as a noble cause that aligns with the government’s broader agenda of equity and empowerment.

She reiterated her personal commitment to supporting programs that promote entrepreneurship, access to credit, and sustainable livelihoods for women in Teso and beyond.

Hon. Emaase hailed the leaders who attended for their solidarity and shared vision of economic transformation, adding that united efforts will help women across the region realize their full potential.

She concluded by noting that women’s empowerment is not merely a social obligation but an economic imperative that can drive inclusive national progress.
