The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) East Africa Academy partnered with Cameras Africa and Sony Middle East and Africa to deliver a two-day Advanced Cinematography Masterclass on 17th and 18th June.
Over 50 senior and mid-level cinematographers from across East Africa attended the hands-on training, exploring Sony’s next-generation digital cinematography technologies.
Participants tested cutting-edge Sony cameras, renowned for their superior color science, intuitive operation, and advanced 8K and 6K full-frame sensor capabilities tools that are transforming modern visual storytelling.
Victoria Goro, Director of MTF East Africa Academy, emphasized the initiative’s impact, “This masterclass reflects our dedication to raising the technical bar in African filmmaking. By collaborating with Sony, we bridge creativity and technology, empowering East African filmmakers to thrive in a competitive industry.”

The MTF Masterclass Series provides film and TV professionals with exclusive, expert-led workshops. This edition follows recent successful sessions on Sound Design and Intimacy Coordination, which trained over 170 creatives across East Africa.
