Kalonzo Says Ruto’s Tours are Mask for Re-election Campaign

Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has expressed his disapproval of President William Ruto’s recent tours across the country, claiming they are merely a cover for his re-election campaign.

While addressing the media on Wednesday, January 22, at the Wiper headquarters in Nairobi, Kalonzo stated that Ruto’s actions have sparked unprecedented opposition against him in the upcoming elections.

“We hope William Ruto is not going to register aliens as voters, we suspect there could be plans under foot to register aliens not Kenyans as voters in Kenya,” Kalonzo said during the presser.

Kalonzo expressed concern over the implications of comments made by Ruto-linked politicians on the election results. Following the Wiper National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting that officially expelled Daadab MP Farah Maalim from the party.

The party announced that the decision was made in line with Article 731 of its constitution, as stated by party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on January 15, 2025. Farah was expelled for breaching the party rules and for disrespecting the youth in response to their criticism of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance government.

He stressed that these remarks create a gloomy outlook for the electoral landscape in the country.

Furthermore, the party announced its intention to organize recruitment rallies across the country aimed at promoting the distribution of national identity cards and motivating citizens to register to vote. “We call on our Gen Z supporters and all Kenyans who have yet to register to take action, ensuring that they play an integral role in the future,” the party emphasized.
