Kenya Works with Development Partners to Improve Security

Kenya Teams Up with Development Partners to Enhance Security Agencies’ Capabilities in Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime Fight.

In order to boost their effectiveness in combating terrorism and transnational crime, YA Teams is teaming up with development partners. Additionally, the government is working with United Nations agencies, the US, the United Kingdom, and other embassies to support reforms aimed at enhancing professionalism, accountability, and adherence to human rights standards to address broader security, humanitarian, and development issues.

On 26th of February, 2023, Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo stated that the initiative will allow them to respond effectively in a coordinated and structured way.

“It is through these actions that we will further solidify our partnership and maximise our positive impact to effectively respond in a coordinated and structured manner,” he said.

The PS also mentioned that they would be carrying out the suggestions put forth by the National Taskforce for enhancing the terms and conditions of service as advised by the team led by retired Chief Justice David Maraga.


“Police reforms are still on top of the Government’s agenda. There are some recommendations that need to be implemented immediately including the salaries for the police and prisons officers. We will implement this in a 3-year period beginning this July,” PS Omollo said.

To enhance Kenya’s border security and management capabilities, various sponsored by the European Union, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the German Development Agency implemented to prevent irregular migration, human trafficking, and the smuggling of illicit and counterfeit goods.
