Kenyan filmmakers and storytellers have once again proven their excellence, securing multiple nominations at this year’s Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Brian Munene and Abel Mutua lead the charge, earning recognition for their compelling Showmax and Maisha Magic originals.
Showmax’s pioneering sci-fi series Subterranea, co-created by Brian Munene and Likarion Wainaina, clinched a nomination for Best Indigenous M-Net Original.
Meanwhile, Munene’s gripping thriller ‘The Caller’ scored three nods: Best Indigenous M-Net Original, Best Indigenous Language (East Africa), and Best Scripted M-Net Original.
Abel Mutua also shone with two nominations his Showmax dramedy ‘Untying Kantai’ earned a spot in Best Writing TV Series, while ‘Makosa ni Yangu’, produced under his Philit Productions banner, secured a nomination for Best Indigenous Language (East Africa).

Adding to Kenya’s impressive lineup, the Maisha Magic Plus sitcom ‘Kam U Stay, written by Emmy-award winner Damaris Irungu Ochieng, landed a nomination for Best Scripted M-Net Original.
Louise Kamwangi also joined the list of nominees, with Girl Effect’s drama ‘Tuki?’ shortlisted in the Best Writing TV Series category.
With such a strong showing, Kenyan creatives continue to set the bar high, proving that East Africa’s storytelling prowess remains unmatched.
