Lenana Kariba Juggles UK Life and a Kiasi Comeback: “The Unplanned Moves Are the Best”

By Eddah Waithaka

London-based actor Lenana Kariba jets back into Kenyan living rooms this month, reprising his role as the perpetually conflicted Nick in the highly anticipated fourth season of Single Kiasi.

The return follows Season 3’s scandalous cliffhanger, which left Nick literally and figuratively in bed with Sintamei (Gathoni Mutua), shattering his relationship with Rebecca (Faith Kibathi).

As fans brace for the fallout, Kariba reveals how an unplanned move to the UK fuels his thriving transcontinental career.

“Moving to the UK was never on my vision board,” Kariba admits in an exclusive interview. “But life threw me a plot twist.” That twist came in the form of love, leading to marriage and a relocation. “I took the leap. Turns out, it was the best I’ve ever taken.”

Despite the distance, his commitment to Single Kiasi never wavered. He credits producers Philip Karanja and Grace Kahaki for making it work.

“They’re absolute gems. They hand me the schedule, I juggle things at home, and then boom, I’m on a plane.”

For Season 4, he compressed all his scenes into a frenetic three-week shooting stint in Nairobi. So, can Nick repair the damage with Rebecca? “He really tries to be more sincere this time,” Kariba teases. “But things don’t always go to plan.”

He describes Nick as a man caught in the middle, neither outright hero nor villain, but a “nice guy” fighting against the odds. “A lot of what happened isn’t really his fault. He’s a guy where the odds are just against him.”

Family drama also intensifies. While meddling mom (Nini Wacera) faces her own emergencies, a formidable auntie steps into the fray. “Nick can actually push back a little with her,” Kariba reveals.

“He’s standing up for his relationship, even if it means locking horns with family. Love is war, and he’s suiting up.”When asked about a standout scene, Kariba highlights a poignant moment. “It’s a very emotional, happy love scene. I’m looking forward to it.”

He hopes this season finally shows Nick’s core. “He’s actually just a very genuine person. That’s what he’s trying to show.”Between takes, his rhythm remains distinctly Kenyan. His go-to snack? “Spicy chicken wings from Chicken Inn.”

If stranded in a desert, he’d pack his phone, those wings, and a Showmax subscription. And in a dream crossover, he’d send Nick into the ruthless world of The Chocolate Empire.

Looking ahead, Kariba balances fatherhood to his two-year-old daughter with brewing international projects. “I never made the move for my career,” he stresses, “but yes, you can definitely look forward to seeing things I’ll do there.”

For now, his focus lands squarely on Nick’s next chaotic chapter, proving that sometimes, the best stories unfold across continents. Watch Lenana Kariba in Single Kiasi Season 4, streaming now on Showmax.
