Morocco is reinforcing its role as a key driver of Africa’s digital transformation as it prepares to host the third edition of GITEX AFRICA Morocco in Marrakech from 14-16 April 2025.
Under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the event will spotlight Africa’s growing influence in global technology, with innovation and artificial intelligence (AI) at the forefront.
Government leaders, tech experts, and global investors gathered in Rabat for a press conference ahead of the continent’s largest tech and startup show, emphasizing Morocco’s emergence as a regional digital hub.
Organized by KAOUN International—the overseas arm of Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC)—in partnership with Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform and the Digital Development Agency (ADD), the event will showcase Africa’s technological ambitions.
Morocco: A Catalyst for Africa’s Digital Growth
Mrs. Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, highlighted the country’s strategic efforts to position itself as a leader in digital innovation.
“Hosting GITEX AFRICA Morocco reflects our commitment to advancing Africa’s digital economy,” she said. “Under His Majesty’s vision, we are fostering digital skills, promoting responsible digitalization, and building infrastructure to keep pace with global technological advancements.”
Mr. Mohammed Drissi Melyani, Director General of the Digital Development Agency, added: “GITEX AFRICA Morocco has evolved into a pivotal platform for Africa’s tech transformation. It’s not just an exhibition—it’s a convergence of innovation, investment, and collaboration, proving that Africa is not just consuming technology but actively shaping it.”
A Global Gathering of Tech Leaders
This year’s edition will attract 45,000+ attendees from 130+ countries, featuring 1,450+ exhibitors, including first-time participants from Gabon, Niger, Zambia, Belgium, Switzerland, and Uzbekistan.
International tech giants such as Cisco, Ericsson, Nokia, China Mobile, and Salesforce will debut their latest innovations, while Middle Eastern players like Saudi Made and Presight (G42 Group) will showcase cutting-edge AI and big data solutions.
Fueling Africa’s Startup Boom
With African startup funding surpassing $2 billion, global investors are turning their attention to the continent’s thriving ecosystem.

The European Innovation Council (EIC) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) will lead high-impact discussions, while 350+ investors—including AFRICINVEST, Techstars, and Ventures Platform—will scout for the next big idea.
Key startup highlights include:
- The Supernova Challenge: Africa’s largest startup competition, offering mentorship and funding opportunities.
- Morocco 200: A government-led initiative to scale Moroccan startups globally.
- SheWins Africa: A platform spotlighting women-led tech ventures.
Expanding Horizons: AI, Agritech, and Beyond
Beyond AI and cybersecurity, GITEX AFRICA Morocco 2025 will explore energy transition, mobility, edutech, sports tech, and agritech, reflecting Africa’s diverse digital ambitions.
