In a major victory for basketball fans across the continent, MultiChoice, a CANAL+ company, is bringing the National Basketball Association (NBA) back to SuperSport and, for the first time ever, to the Showmax Premier League platform.
This landmark deal marks the NBA’s return to SuperSport channels for the first time since the 2015-16 season, catapulting Africa’s fastest-growing sport into millions of new homes.
The partnership promises to deliver the league’s full spectacle, placing a front-row seat to the world’s best basketball directly into the hands of viewers.

Fans can now witness the speed, skill, and high-stakes drama through selected live regular-season games, the entire playoff march, and the spectacular All-Star Weekend, all in a fully produced English-language feed.
“The return of the NBA to SuperSport is a landmark moment that underscores our commitment to bringing the best global sports to our audiences across the continent,” said Rendani Ramovha, CANAL+ Director of Sport Content for English and Portuguese-speaking Africa.
“This deal is massive for the growth of basketball in Africa. We are delighted to once again offer our viewers a front-row seat to the world’s most exciting basketball league.”
The agreement ensures maximum accessibility, broadcasting games across more than 50 countries on multiple platforms.
Viewers can tune in on SuperSport linear channels (on DStv and GOtv) and stream the action live via DStv Stream and, in a major first, on the Showmax Premier League platform.
This expansive coverage means the NBA will reach fans on DStv Compact packages and GOtv Supa Plus, appearing on a selection of channels including SuperSport Action, SuperSport Variety 3, and SuperSport Africa 2.
The deal also guarantees fans will never miss a pivotal moment. SuperSport’s digital and social channels will deliver highlights, while DStv CatchUp and Showmax’s on-demand service will offer full-game replays.
(The NBA will also continue to be available on CANAL+ platforms in French-speaking Africa).
The return of the league showcases a constellation of global superstars, giving African audiences front-row access to the game’s greatest talents.

Fans can watch former MVPs like Nikola Jokić and Giannis Antetokounmpo, reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and electrifying talents like Anthony Edwards and Luka Dončić, all as they battle for the championship.
This partnership not only celebrates the NBA’s soaring popularity in Africa but actively fuels its future, bringing the game’s unparalleled athleticism and star power directly to the continent’s rapidly expanding fan base.
