Young political aspirants under the banner New Generation Aspirants (NGA) declared their intent to reshape Kenya’s leadership during a high-energy forum at Ufungamano House in Nairobi today.
The movement, led by John Kamau, its organizing chairperson, seeks to consolidate the youth vote ahead of the 2027 elections, arguing that young Kenyans can no longer remain sidelined in governance.
“We are Breaking the Table or Building Our Own”
Kamau emphasized that NGA unites aspirants from MCA to presidential levels, ensuring no gaps in youth representation.
“For too long, the majority—youth—have only had a say. In 2027, we’ll have our way,” he declared, referencing last year’s Gen Z protests as a catalyst for structured change.
He criticized the current administration for “failing totally,” citing frequent cabinet reshuffles, unsustainable debt negotiations, and lack of clear policies.
“They are importing leaders from rival parties to help run the country. That’s incompetence,” he said. Nairobi Governor Hopeful Dr. Ben Ngigi: “We’ll End Cartels, Fix Sewage, and Empower Youth.”
Dr. Ben Ngigi, a PhD holder vying for Nairobi governor, condemned the county’s mismanagement, linking recent flood deaths in Mukuru kwa Njenga and Mathare to poor drainage systems.
“How does a capital city drown every rainy season? This regime has no plan,” he said. His pledges included, Crushing cartels controlling water, streetlights, and garbage collection: Launching a youth innovation hub to tackle unemployment and crime, Introducing a modern transport network to decongest Nairobi.
“We won’t steal funds meant for development. Accountability starts with us,” he asserted.
Lavani Mila said, “Protests Were Just the Beginning, Now We Take Power” Co-convener Lavani Mila framed the forum as a shift from protests to political strategy, dismissing older parties as “the same monkeys in new forests.”
“Gen Zs were called clueless, but we are presenting a clear agenda,” she said, hinting at a new political vehicle for youth candidates.
The group announced plans to: Tour villages to rally support, Form a coalition or merge existing youth-led parties ahead of 2027, Draft a policy blueprint addressing unemployment, corruption, and infrastructure.
“We will engage everyone—mamas, wazee, vijana. This is our moment,” Mila concluded.
