TAAG Angola Airlines Bolsters Fleet with Second Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

By Eddah Waithaka

TAAG Angola Airlines is accelerating its modernization drive, welcoming a second Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to its fleet in a major boost for its long-haul ambitions.

The airline received the new aircraft, registered as D2-TER, at the new Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN). This strategic addition marks a significant milestone in the carrier’s 2024–2029 strategic plan and strengthens its transformation into a modern, competitive airline.

The new Dreamliner will immediately enhance TAAG’s capacity to serve intercontinental routes. It joins its sister aircraft, D2-TEQ, which currently operates the popular Luanda–São Paulo route, ensuring more excellent service, efficiency, and comfort for passengers.

“This fleet renewal is a strategic investment that fuels our pillars of operational excellence and commercial superiority,” the airline stated, emphasizing that modern aircraft are critical for financial sustainability and an improved customer experience.

TAAG secured the aircraft through a leasing arrangement. It features a 345-seat configuration, with 63 seats in a Premium Economy Class and 282 in Economy Class, offering a versatile layout for future route demands.

Globally, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner sets the standard for fuel efficiency and lower operational costs, while also significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.

Passengers enjoy a superior flying experience characterized by quieter cabins, modern design, and enhanced comfort.

This expansion solidifies TAAG Angola Airlines’ role as a key facilitator of global connectivity, bridging Angola to multiple geographies and empowering stronger links from the southern African nation to the world.
