Farah Maalim, the Member of Parliament for Dadaab, has been ousted from the Wiper Democratic Movement. On Wednesday, January 15, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka released a statement indicating that the expulsion was prompted by recent comments made by the MP. Musyoka emphasized that the decision would be effective immediately and voiced concerns regarding the MP’s behavior.
Before his expulsion from Wiper, Maalim held the position of deputy party leader.
“To clarify, Farah Maalim, who has served as the Wiper party’s deputy until now, is expelled from the Wiper Democratic Movement for breaching the constitution and infringing upon the rights of Kenyans,” Kalonzo Musyoka said.
Maalim has faced significant backlash from the public in recent days due to comments he made during President William Ruto’s visit to the South Rift region.
Critics have labeled Maalim’s comments as derogatory and disrespectful towards women in Kenya. However, despite his expulsion, he is anticipated to continue his role as a Member of Parliament.

Kalonzo also urged President William Ruto to uphold the Constitution and ensure the rule of law is maintained, warning that failing to do so should lead to his resignation.
“We demand that Ruto respect Kenyans, the oath of office he swore he preserve, and the 2010 Constitution. If he [Ruto] refuses to respect and enforce the Constitution and the laws, he should resign,” he said.
