ActionAid International Kenya has launched its 2024-2028 Strategic Plan ‘Our Rights or Justice’, adopting the innovative partnership model to strategically invest in women, youth and children living in poverty and marginalization, deliberately shifting power to them and their institutions.
The launch of the ActionAid International Kenya Strategy Note 2024 -2028 reaffirms the commitment to empowering communities, advocating for social justice, and promoting sustainable development across Kenya.
The institution, which is unapologetic in promoting women’s rights and ensuring that women living in poverty and marginalization are empowered, is committed to working with women, children and youth to claim and realize their constitutional rights through three main pillars: empowerment, solidarity and campaigning.
Speaking at the launch, Sam Muga, Chairperson of the Board of ActionAid Kenya, highlighted the institution’s commitment to advocating for justice and equality: “At ActionAid Kenya, we are unwavering in our commitment to advocate for the rights of women, young people and their communities. As we launch our new strategy, we will be bold in our advocacy for justice and equality, ensuring that every voice is heard and every right is upheld.”
Hellen Grace Akwii Wangusa, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of ActionAid International, emphasized that the realignment of the country strategy will enable ActionAid Kenya to strengthen its work in fighting poverty and injustice in line with the current situation in the country.
“When I arrived in Nairobi, there were a lot of civic agitation demanding for good governance and adherence to human rights. And I am impressed that Kenya has become a pacesetter in Africa and the Global South. By realigning its country strategy, ActionAid Kenya is strengthening its work of fighting poverty and injustice to suit the country situation now. The federation applauds AAIK for your boldness over the years, and with this bolstered Country Strategy, we see a bolder country programme in the coming days,” said Wangusa.
