Early this morning at the Easy Coach offices in Railways, passengers boarding long-distance buses to Western Kenya and Kampala received an unexpected delight—personalized Coke cans bearing their names.

A Nostalgic Campaign with a Gen Z Twist

First launched in 2011, the campaign replaces Coca-Cola’s classic logo with Kenyan names, turning each bottle into a personal connection.

This year, the brand tailored the initiative for Gen Z, blending real-world activations with digital engagement on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) under #ShareACoke.

From supermarkets to campuses, the campaign has spread nationwide, but Coca-Cola took it further by surprising travelers during one of Kenya’s busiest holiday weekends.

Passengers React: “I Feel Honored!”

Excitement filled the air as passengers received their named Coke cans, one to keep and one to share.

Reactions ranged from surprise to heartfelt gratitude, “I was not expecting this. I feel honored!” Ian, one of the travellers exclaimed.

Kamil Njera, joined in the excitement, “It’s my first time getting a Coke with my name. Usually, I get one with a T-shirt, but this is special!”

Spreading Cheer from Bus Terminals to Airports

Beyond Easy Coach, Coca-Cola also surprised Jambojet passengers flying to Mombasa, Ukunda, Malindi, and Kisumu, ensuring the Madaraka Day spirit soared from takeoff to landing.

Kenyans Weigh In: Should Personalized Cans Stay?

The consensus? A resounding YES. “They should keep this! Seeing our names on Coke bottles makes us proud as Kenyans,” one traveler insisted.

Why This Campaign Resonates

In a digital-first world, Coca-Cola’s “Share a Coke” bridges virtual and real-life connections, one name, one smile at a time.

As Kenya celebrates Madaraka Day, the campaign reinforces unity through simple, joyful moments.
