Hennessy MyWay Returns to Kenya: Global Winner Billy Kigocha to Mentor 2026 Contenders

By Eddah Waithaka

Fresh off a historic victory in 2025, Hennessy has officially launched the 2026 edition of its prestigious Hennessy MyWay global competition, calling on Kenya’s most visionary mixologists to showcase their artistry and sustainability chops.

The competition returns with a clear mission: to push bartenders to craft cocktails that reflect their personal identity and cultural heritage while integrating eco-conscious practices and sustainable ingredients.

Hennessy describes the challenge as a “global storytelling platform” that goes beyond simple drink-making.This year, Kenyan participants have a powerful advantage in their corner.

Billy Kigocha, the Kenyan mixologist who stunned the world by winning the 2025 Hennessy MyWay Global title, will serve as a direct mentor to this year’s local competitors.

“Kenya’s vibrant mixology scene is no longer a hidden gem; we are the benchmark,” the Hennessy team stated. “By opening doors to 25 local bartenders this year, we are providing a bridge between Nairobi’s talent and the global stage in France.”

The 2026 challenge follows a rigorous three-tier journey. Aspiring bartenders must first submit a video of their signature cocktail via the official website, HennessyMyWay.com, by 26th February.

Submissions must highlight the bartender’s inspiration and their specific approach to sustainability. From this digital phase, the top three standout mixologists will advance to the National Finals in Kenya. There, they will develop a second, more complex cocktail concept.

A single winner will emerge as Kenya’s Champion, earning a coveted spot in the Global Top 25.The national champion will then travel to the heart of the Hennessy distillery in France to compete against the world’s best.

To claim the ultimate global title, they must present a third and final masterpiece to a panel of international experts. For Kigocha, the mission is personal. Having brought the title home once, he is determined to keep it there.

“The world is watching Kenya now,” said Kigocha. “As last year’s global winner, my goal isn’t just to see someone win; it’s to see our local talent push the boundaries of what’s possible in sustainable mixology. I’m ready to share everything I learned in France to ensure the title stays right here in Kenya.”

Hennessy invites all Kenyan bartenders who embody the spirit of “Never Stop. Never Settle.” to enter the competition and define the future of modern mixology. Interested participants can find more details at https://hennessymyway.com/.
