Huawei Cloud renewed its commitment to powering Kenya’s digital transformation this week, hosting over 120 senior technology leaders at the Huawei Cloud TechWave Kenya Day in Nairobi.
Under the theme “Innovate Now, Ignite the Future,” the event gathered decision-makers from government, finance, media, and e-commerce to explore practical AI and cloud solutions for the local market.
Frank Shi, Managing Director of Huawei Cloud Kenya, opened the forum by declaring now the prime time for technological development.
“The best time to develop Cloud and AI is now,” Shi stated. “We want to become a one-stop shop for software development, offering the tools, platforms, and expertise needed to power Kenya’s digital economy.”
Shi underscored the company’s strategic shift from a cloud-native to an AI-native architecture, a move that deeply embeds artificial intelligence into every layer of its cloud services to meet growing global demand.
The event featured a series of keynotes and live demonstrations highlighting real-world applications.
Timothy Oriedo, Founder of Predictive Analytics Lab, outlined how businesses can leverage Big Data and AI to drive intelligent transformation in key sectors like fintech and agriculture.

From its global team, Huawei Cloud’s Vice President Rex Xiao introduced CodeArts, an all-in-one DevOps platform that integrates 28 tools into a single environment.
Xiao said the platform delivers greater development efficiency, robust built-in security, and intelligent automation. Partners like FinSense Africa echoed these benefits.
Chief Commercial Officer Ishaq Kassam highlighted how DevSecOps practices are critical for building a successful digital-first strategy, outcomes his company is achieving in partnership with Huawei Cloud.
A case study from the Philippines demonstrated the platform’s impact, where a leading internet company reportedly increased its software R&D efficiency tenfold by adopting CodeArts.Further keynotes addressed data modernization.
David Sanchez Plaza, Chief Solution Architect for Data Analytics at Huawei Cloud, presented the Lakehouse architecture as an essential tool for breaking down data silos and building reliable AI capabilities.

To make the technology tangible, Senior Solution Architect Kevin Kipruto concluded the day with a live demo, building a web-based e-commerce application in real-time to showcase Huawei Cloud’s automated testing, performance validation, and end-to-end delivery process.
Huawei Cloud reiterated its long-term pledge to the Kenyan market, emphasizing that it aims to build ecosystems, nurture local talent, and co-create solutions.
