Momentum is growing behind the Kilindini Campaign, a groundbreaking initiative driving sustainable marine tourism and ocean governance in East Africa.
Governments, local communities, and private stakeholders are joining forces to implement Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) and protect vital coastal ecosystems.
Kenya and Tanzania are spearheading regional efforts, integrating MSP into national and county-level policies to ensure long-term marine sustainability.
The campaign is setting a new standard for science-based marine management, transforming fragmented conservation attempts into a unified regional strategy.
“Strong collaboration between governments, civil society, and the private sector is making this progress possible,” said a lead official.
“By combining political will with collective action, we are building a resilient blue economy for future generations.”
The Kilindini Campaign is more than a call to action, it’s proving how coordinated efforts can safeguard marine biodiversity while boosting sustainable tourism.
With continued commitment, Kenya and Tanzania are paving the way for a future where thriving coastal economies coexist with healthy oceans.
