The Nairobi Hospital has unveiled its new Labour, Delivery, and Recovery (LDR) suites, setting a new standard for maternal and neonatal care in Kenya. The state-of-the-art facility reinforces the hospital’s commitment to innovation, patient dignity, and world-class healthcare.

The six fully equipped LDR suites will handle up to 90 births per month, offering mothers a seamless experience from labour to delivery and recovery in a single, private, and medically advanced space.
This model eliminates unnecessary patient transfers, enhancing safety, comfort, and emotional well-being.
Dr. Barcley Onyambu, Chairman of The Nairobi Hospital Board, emphasized the hospital’s dedication to patient-centred care, “Childbirth is a pivotal moment for families. These suites ensure mothers receive safe, dignified, and compassionate care in a modern setting.”
The hospital aligned the LDR suites with Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda, integrating them with the Social Health Authority (SHA) digital platform.
This move ensures transparent financing, reduced out-of-pocket costs, and smoother reimbursements for patients.
“No mother should worry about finances during childbirth,” said Dr. Agnes Gachoki, Chairperson of the Medical Advisory Committee.
“With SHA integration, even government-sponsored UHC beneficiaries can access premium care.”

Dr. John Ondero Ongech, Chairperson of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Committee, highlighted the shift toward holistic, emotionally intelligent care, “We are moving away from fragmented care. These suites combine medical expertise with psychological support, empowering women to make informed choices.”
Each suite features a multidisciplinary team obstetricians, midwives, paediatricians, and anaesthetists backed by real-time digital monitoring for swift decision-making.
The launch follows the hospital’s recent introduction of an AI-powered Siemens CT scanner, further cementing its leadership in advanced healthcare solutions.
“This isn’t just about delivering babies,” added Dr. Ongech. “It’s about shaping a healthier future, one birth at a time.”
The Nairobi Hospital continues to lead Kenya’s healthcare evolution, blending cutting-edge technology with compassionate care.
