Dr Mamboleo, known as the pioneer of intercessory prayer, recently turned 90. He has dedicated 70 years of his life to serving God.

“This is a man of God who loves his nation,” the former vice president told Bishop Mamboleo, his family, church leaders and friends.

During the service, the Wiper leader recalled how Dr Mamboleo had called him and encouraged him when he was Minister of Education and there was a teachers’ strike that had paralysed education in the country.

Recalling the teachers’ strike in October 1998 after the then government failed to implement a 1997 pay.

Dr Musyoka, who had just been appointed Minister in the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, said Bishop Mamboleo called him and referred to the Bible, specifically the book of Second Chronicles chapter 20 and verse 25.

Then we prayed for our nation. The next day, the government and the Kenya
National Teachers Union (KNUT) negotiated an agreement, and the strike was called off,” Dr. Musyoka stated.

He also echoed Pastor Dorcas Rigathi’ s sentiments saying the Church should pray for patients during doctors’ strikes.

The Deputy President’s wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, was the chief guest. She led the clergy to pray for an end to the doctors’ strike, which is now in its fourth week.

“When doctors are on strike, we have a reason to pray as a church so we do not lose many patients. If we do not take action now, it will not augur well for the nation.”

“The good thing about strikes is that they do not last forever but they live behind terrible scars,” said  Kalonzo.

A support fund for Bishop Mamboleo has been set up, supported by financial donations and the purchase of the dozens of books he has written during his 70 years of ministry.
