The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have deployed troops to protect civilians and humanitarian workers in Zamzam Camp, North Darfur, after liberating the area from the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and allied militants.
The RSF confirms it has fully secured the camp, ending its use as a military base by SAF and affiliated terrorist groups.
Previously, SAF and allied mercenaries had turned Zamzam into a stronghold, exploiting civilians as human shields in violation of international law.
The RSF strongly denies false claims of targeting civilians and urges accurate reporting on the situation. “The so-called ‘Joint Force’ and its mercenaries deliberately endangered civilians by operating within the camp,” the RSF stated.
“We categorically reject the misinformation spread by SAF and its backers, who seek to tarnish our reputation domestically and internationally.”

The RSF emphasized its commitment to civilian protection, noting that the Founding Alliance Forces had earlier evacuated numerous families from El Fasher and surrounding areas to safer locations, providing shelter and security in coordination with aid groups.
The RSF now calls on humanitarian organizations to assist displaced civilians and reaffirms its compliance with international humanitarian law.
“We remain dedicated to safeguarding civilians and critical infrastructure, including medical facilities,” the statement concluded.
Relief agencies are urged to respond swiftly to the growing humanitarian needs in the region.
