The State Department of Investment Promotion (SDIP) and the Netherlands Business Hub Kenya (NLBH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The aim of the memorandum is to strengthen their commitment to supporting the Dutch business community in Kenya and promoting investment opportunities in the country.

The signing ceremony took place during a business forum held in honor of the State Visit to Kenya by the King and Queen of the Netherlands.

The MoU outlines a shared vision to enhance collaboration between the two entities, focusing on promoting Kenya as a prime investment destination both locally and internationally.

The agreement underscores the importance of fostering stronger economic ties between Kenya and the Netherlands, two nations with a long history of trade and investment partnerships.

Hon. Abubakar Hassan Abubakar, Principal Secretary of the State Department of Investment Promotion, emphasized the significance of the partnership.

“This MoU underscores the Kenyan Government’s recognition of the Netherlands Business Community as one of Kenya’s largest trade and investment partners. It reflects our commitment to creating an enabling environment for Dutch businesses to thrive in Kenya,” he said.

Mr. Jules Delahaije, Chairman of the Netherlands Business Hub, highlighted the value of the collaboration.

“The partnership between SDIP and NLBH demonstrates the strength of the Netherlands Business Community in Kenya. This is a prime example of how the public and private sectors can work together to promote ‘doing business in Kenya’ and improve the investment climate,” he remarked.

Ms. Yvonne Oerlemans, General Manager of the Netherlands Business Hub Kenya, expressed her enthusiasm for the agreement.

Dutch Ambassador to Kenya, Hon. Henk-Jan Bakker, emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in driving economic growth.

“A strong partnership between the government and the private sector is crucial for business support. This MoU will strengthen the economic ties between Kenya and the Netherlands, creating more opportunities for trade and investment,” he stated.

Both parties expressed optimism about the future, noting that the agreement will enhance Kenya’s appeal as a hub for international investment and foster sustainable growth for businesses in both countries.
