Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, Aden Duale, launched two pivotal initiatives to support Kenya’s climate resilience, the National Framework for Climate Services (NFCS) and the State of the Climate Kenya (SOCK) 2024 Report—during a high-profile event at Nairobi’s Sarova Panafric Hotel.
Duale, alongside key stakeholders from government, academia, and the private sector, emphasized the framework’s role in providing actionable climate data to enhance preparedness and response to climate variability and extreme weather events.
The NFCS, a key element of Kenya’s climate strategy, will deliver timely, reliable, and actionable climate data for agriculture, water management, disaster response, and infrastructure development.
Duale emphasized that the framework will enhance the country’s ability to forecast, prepare for, and respond to climate variability and extreme weather events.
“This framework equips every sector with the tools needed to adapt to the uncertainties of a changing climate,” Duale stated.
“It is a significant step toward building a nation that is resilient, informed, and ready to face the challenges posed by climate change.”

The SOCK 2024 Report, launched alongside the NFCS, offers a comprehensive analysis of Kenya’s climate trends, challenges, and opportunities.
Duale highlighted the report’s role in informing evidence-based decision-making and fostering sustainable development across the country.
Duale called for collective action, urging stakeholders to leverage science, innovation, and partnerships to drive sustainable solutions.
“The power of collaboration cannot be overstated,” he said. “Together, we can build a climate-resilient Kenya that thrives in the face of adversity.”
The launch highlights Kenya’s path to sustainability, with the NFCS aimed at enhancing agricultural planning, water management, and disaster risk reduction.
Duale expressed confidence in the framework’s implementation, noting its potential to safeguard critical infrastructure and livelihoods.
As Kenya faces climate change impacts, the NFCS and SOCK 2024 Report offer a roadmap for resilience, highlighting the need for data-driven strategies and inclusive partnerships.
