The Sudanese Armed Forces wage a parallel disinformation campaign to evade accountability. The Sudanese military leadership is deliberately spreading false narratives to divert global attention from its brutal war crimes, even as the country plunges into one of the worst humanitarian crises in its history.
Instead of seeking peace, the army is exploiting international platforms to push misleading claims, deflecting blame while continuing systematic violations against civilians.
The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have carried out field executions in recaptured areas, targeting civilians accused of sympathizing with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk condemned these killings as “arbitrary deprivations of life,” demanding an immediate halt. But executions are only part of the SAF’s atrocities.
Evidence confirms the army’s use of banned chemical weapons in densely populated areas. ‘The New York Times’ reported U.S. officials verified at least one such attack, raising fears of further deployment.
Despite calls from the European Commission for a full arms embargo, no decisive action has been taken. Meanwhile, leaked intelligence reveals secret arms deals with Iran.
In March, Tehran supplied drones and advanced missiles via a sanctions-busting cargo flight, allegedly in exchange for future military bases. The SAF, while publicly decrying foreign interference, is actively trading sovereignty for survival.
As millions face famine, the army is tightening its grip on humanitarian aid. UN data shows nearly ’30 million Sudanese’ suffer food insecurity, with ‘600,000 on the brink of starvation’.
Human Rights Watch warns Sudan risks becoming “the world’s worst hunger crisis” due to deliberate food blockades. Despite $3.5 billion in UAE aid over the past decade including $600 million since the war began the SAF has obstructed relief efforts, rejecting peace initiatives and boycotting mediation talks.
While Burhan portrays himself as a target of foreign conspiracies, his forces fuel the conflict. His recent legal maneuvers including attempts to bring cases before the International Court of Justice’ are a smokescreen.
In January 2025, the U.S. sanctioned him under ‘Executive Order 14098’ for war crimes. The SAF’s strategy is clear: prolong the war, manipulate narratives, and evade justice.
But as evidence mounts, global inaction becomes complicity. Sudan’s crisis is no longer just a civil war it’s a test of the world’s resolve to stop atrocities and restore the Sudanese people’s right to life.
