Huawei Technologies brought together over 600 government leaders, industry experts, and technology partners at the Huawei Cloud & Connect Summit Kenya 2025 in Nairobi, setting the stage for Kenya’s accelerated digital transformation.
Under the theme “Accelerate Intelligence, Ignite Smart Kenya,” the summit fueled discussions on cloud infrastructure, AI adoption, and public-private collaborations to position Kenya as Africa’s next digital powerhouse.
Cloud and AI: The Foundation of Kenya’s Digital Future
In his keynote address, Victor Guo, President of Huawei Sub-Saharan Africa Enterprise Business, underscored the critical role of cloud computing in Kenya’s AI-driven future.
“Cloud is not just the backbone of Kenya’s AI ambitions, it’s the catalyst for transforming entire industries,” Guo declared.
“With Huawei’s cloud infrastructure, Kenya is ready to lead Africa’s digital economy.”
Guo highlighted Huawei’s 27-year partnership with Kenya, evolving from telecom infrastructure to cutting-edge cloud and AI solutions.
“From building Kenya’s first communication networks to powering today’s digital economy, we remain committed to a smarter, more inclusive Kenya,” he affirmed.
Industry Leaders Showcase Cloud-Powered Transformation
Key stakeholders from Kenya’s public and private sectors shared real-world examples of Huawei’s cloud technology driving innovation: – **Robert Mugo, ICT General Manager at Kenya Power**, emphasized how cloud-based smart grids are revolutionizing energy distribution.
“Huawei’s cloud platforms help us build a resilient, efficient grid that integrates clean energy and meets future demand,” he said.
Kevin Judah, Head of Technology at Co-operative Bank, revealed how Huawei’s cloud solutions enhanced digital banking.
“Our upgraded SD-WAN and private cloud systems deliver seamless services to millions of customers, boosting scalability and performance.”
Eng. W. R. Oginga, Director at Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), highlighted cloud-powered Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).
“Real-time traffic management is transforming urban mobility, making roads safer and more efficient for Kenya’s growing cities.”
John Paul Okwiri, CEO of Konza Technopolis, outlined how Huawei’s government cloud services and AI-ready data centers support Kenya’s digital ambitions.
“We are equipping youth with digital skills and building a thriving innovation ecosystem for Kenya’s future.”
Strategic Partnerships Fueling Local Innovation
The summit also spotlighted collaborations between Huawei and Kenyan tech leaders: Shailendra Yadav, CEO of SYBYL Kenya and Tanzania, credited Huawei’s solutions for accelerating business digitalization.
“Huawei’s technology sets new industry standards, helping companies stay competitive in a fast-evolving digital landscape.”
Hussein Popat, Head of Growth at Computech Ltd, shared how their partnership with Huawei empowers regional businesses.
