The Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK) unveiled two publications during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Panari Sky Hotel in Nairobi on Friday.
The event, graced by key industry stakeholders, marked a significant step toward advancing professionalism and efficiency in Kenya’s construction sector.
Key Publications Launched
2025/2026 Construction Costs Handbook
This essential guide provides up-to-date pricing data for construction materials across Kenya. Quantity surveyors, contractors, and developers will rely on the handbook for accurate budgeting, cost planning, and dispute resolution, ensuring transparency and efficiency in project.
Quantity Surveying Standards, Practices, and Procedures (SPP)
The SPP introduces standardized methodologies, integrating global best practices and emerging technologies like Building Information Modelling (BIM). It aims to elevate the profession by promoting sustainability, innovation, and uniformity in quantity surveying practices.
Principal Secretary Commends IQSK’s Efforts
Hon. Joel Arumoyang, Principal Secretary for Public Works, officiated the launch, emphasizing the government’s commitment to strengthening the construction sector.
“Quantity surveyors play a pivotal role in ensuring cost efficiency, accountability, and quality in infrastructure projects,” he said. “The State Department for Public Works fully supports IQSK’s initiatives, including the adoption of digital tools, enhanced training for young professionals, and robust policy frameworks.”

Arumoyang praised the Construction Costs Handbook for improving cost transparency and reducing disputes, while the SPP Handbook will standardize measurements, estimations, and documentation across the industry.

IQSK President highlighted the publications’ role in aligning Kenya’s construction sector with international standards. “These resources will empower professionals, boost investor confidence, and drive sustainable development,” he said.
The AGM also featured discussions on mentorship, technology integration, and policy reforms to further professionalize quantity surveying in Kenya.
