Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance, lead the “Okoa Katiba” initiative, which drew attention to several pressing issues, particularly government policies that opposition leaders say threaten constitutional rights and social justice.
Kalonzo vehemently condemned the new university funding model, calling it discriminatory and arguing that the policy deepens educational inequality and puts undue financial pressure on families.
Wiper Party leader Musyoka also criticized the recent police crackdown on young protesters and journalists, stressing that the youth were peacefully exercising their constitutional rights.
He condemned the regime’s repressive actions and expressed disapproval of efforts to extend the president’s term, calling them authoritarian. He also claimed that allowing the current government to continue would weaken Kenya’s democratic foundations.
Also on Wednesday, August 28, during the Okoa Katiba event at Ufangamano House, former Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa alleged that this was another plot to remove presidential term limits.
“Today we are here to say we want to defend our Constitution and to protect it because this Constitution is under threat. We know there is a plan to amend this Constitution, there is even a plan to remove term limits, and we have said we will protect the Constitution,” Wamalwa claimed.

At the same time, the DAP-K leader strongly criticized Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni for assaulting Embakasi East MP Babu Owino last Tuesday.
Wamalwa said he was shocked to see Museveni attacking Babu, adding that the MP was the same age as the Ugandan president’s grandchildren.
Jeremiah Kioni, the Jubilee Party Secretary General, raised the issue of the rising cost of living and urged President Ruto to intervene. He also condemned the internal workings of the party and warned against President Ruto’s possible exploitation of opposition figures.
Kioni also highlighted the unresolved case of Wairimu Mwangi, who died under suspicious circumstances at the Kenyatta University morgue, as an example of government neglect.
