Kenya’s Human Resource profession marks a historic milestone this week, as more than 2,000 candidates turn up nationwide to sit for the April 2026 HR certification examinations.
The Human Resource Management Professionals Examinations Board (HRMPEB) administers the exams, which officially began on April 1 and run through April 10, 2026.
Aspiring and experienced HR practitioners alike undertake the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) and CBET Diploma/Certificate in HR assessments at multiple centres, including Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Mombasa, Thika, Nyeri, Kakamega, Kaimosi, and Nanyuki.
This large turnout marks one of the most extensive coordinated sittings of HR exams in the region and underscores a growing appetite for professional certification.
Strengthening the HR Profession
The CHRP qualification, HRMPEB’s flagship program, continues to draw professionals eager to sharpen their expertise and assume more strategic roles within organizations.
The rising numbers reflect a deepening recognition of structured, globally aligned HR standards that meet both local and international demands.
Margaret Nguu, Chief Executive Officer of HRMPEB, celebrates the milestone, noting that the surge in candidates signals a clear evolution within the profession.
“This high candidature is encouraging and speaks to a broader transformation within the HR space,” says Nguu. “The individuals sitting these exams represent the next generation of HR leaders, people who will drive strategy, uphold ethics, and shape the future of work.”
HRMPEB continues to play a pivotal role in advancing professionalism across the sector by championing high standards, credibility, and relevance.
Beyond assessment, these examinations affirm competence and inspire HR practitioners to lead with purpose, innovation, and integrity.
