Konza Technopolis, in partnership with Delta Motor Sports, hosted the highly anticipated Easter Weekend ‘Race Wars’ motorsport event, attracting over 1,500 motorsport enthusiasts, innovators, creatives, and industry stakeholders.

The two-day spectacle featured 40 high-performance racing cars competing across multiple categories, delivering an adrenaline-charged showcase of speed, skill, and cutting-edge engineering.

Race Wars blends sport, innovation, and digital culture. Two race formats — Rolling races and DIG races — unfolded along Konza Technopolis’ half-mile streetscape. By hosting the event, Konza Technopolis positions itself as a dynamic destination where innovation extends beyond offices and laboratories into cultural and sporting platforms.

“Race Wars is a powerful expression of what Konza Technopolis stands for,” said John Paul Okwiri, CEO of Konza Technopolis. “It demonstrates that the Smart City is not just a place to work and innovate, but a place to live, play, and experience the future. By bringing together motorsport, innovation, and digital experiences, we showcase Konza Technopolis as a vibrant, inclusive city that supports creativity, talent, and world-class events. This is how we bring our smart city vision to life.”

Delta Motorsports Club Chairperson Sunil Bhachu praised the venue choice. “Delta Motorsports Club’s decision to host RaceWars at Konza Technopolis demonstrates outstanding strategic vision, perfectly aligning high-performance motorsports with Kenya’s premier hub for innovation and technology,” he said.

“The venue offers exceptionally smooth, wide tarmac stretches and a controlled, safe environment ideal for competitive racing, while simultaneously showcasing Konza Technopolis as a versatile, world-class destination beyond its tech reputation.”

After two intense days of racing, Lexus Musa clinched the 1000cc Bikers category. Salman Mohamed claimed victory in the two-wheel drive category, while Jeremy Kithome took home the award for best driver in the Open Class.

The partnership between Konza Technopolis and Delta Motor Sports elevates Kenya’s sporting profile while embedding technology into event experiences.

The motorsport event positions Kenya as a regional hub for innovative sporting and digital experiences, reinforcing the country’s growing reputation in technology, creativity, and youth-driven enterprise.

For Konza Technopolis, Kenya’s flagship smart city project, hosting a high-profile motorsport event highlights the city’s readiness to support large-scale modern events. It demonstrates evolving infrastructure, lifestyle appeal, and a community-centric vision.

Beyond the thrill of racing, Race Wars contributes to broader conversations around innovation, digital engagement, and experiential events in Kenya. The event showcases how sporting platforms can create immersive experiences that resonate with younger audiences while opening collaboration opportunities across technology, media, and creative industries.

As Kenya continues to invest in digital transformation and innovation-led growth, Race Wars signals a new chapter for sports and entertainment in the region.

The event promises a defining moment for Konza Technopolis and a bold statement of Kenya’s ambition to lead in innovative sporting and digital experiences across Africa.
