Bunge la mwanachi Demands Probe Into Karen Hospital’s Role in Alleged Staged Abduction of MP Koimburi

By Nyambura Waithaka

Bunge la mwanachi today have petitioned Parliament to investigate Karen Hospital for allegedly blocking security agencies from accessing the facility during probes into the abduction of Juja MP Hon. Koimburi.

The civil society group, filed the petition with the National Assembly’s Committee on National Security, accusing the hospital’s management of obstructing justice and abetting a cover-up.

Key Allegations in the Petition

Karen Hospital denied entry to detectives and parliamentary officials investigating Koimburi’s abduction. The hospital’s board allegedly colluded in a scheme to undermine national security.

The facility is accused of providing refuge to criminals evading arrest. If proven false, the MP’s abduction claims amount to political sabotage, warranting his suspension from Parliament.

“Stage-Managed Abductions Are Treasonous”

Activist Lawi Oyugi, Bunge la Mwananchi’s chairperson, condemned the incident, stating, “Fabricated abductions and political theatrics endanger national stability. Those behind this scheme must face the law.”

The petition argues that MP security is taxpayer-funded, making it a national concern, not a private matter. It also cites, Article 248 of the Constitution, which mandates public cooperation with security agencies.

The demands are to disband the board of Karen Hospital for obstructing investigations, to prosecute all accomplices involved in the alleged cover-up, and to suspend MP Koimburi if evidence confirms that the abduction was staged.

This situation is critical as it highlights serious concerns about politicians manipulating security incidents for sympathy and the involvement of hospitals in facilitating cover-ups.

A parliamentary probe could reveal more extensive political interference in law enforcement, potentially undermining public trust in both political and healthcare institutions.

Activists demand suspension of MP if abduction was staged. Petition warns against politicizing security incidents, and constitutional breach alleged over denied access to investigators.
