Nairobi Students Begin New Year in New Passaris-Built Classrooms

By Eddah Waithaka

Students at Bidii Comprehensive School in Nairobi started the 2026 academic year in a transformed environment, walking into six brand new classrooms unveiled on Monday.

The modern facility, named the Passaris Block, resulted from a collaborative effort between President William Ruto’s office, the Chinese Embassy, and the Passaris Foundation.

The project directly addresses classroom overcrowding and aims to provide a superior learning atmosphere.

A particularly emotional moment marked the opening as students filed into Class 9A, now named the “RAO Classroom” in honor of the late veteran statesman Raila Odinga.

Attendees described the tribute as a powerful homage to the former Prime Minister’s legacy.Area Member of Parliament, Hon. AKI Passaris, presided over the handover ceremony.

He emphasized his longstanding commitment to educational development, stating, “Education remains the foundation of our nation. It is my hope that these classrooms will empower our young learners to achieve their fullest potential.”

School administrators and parents hailed the initiative, noting it will significantly ease congestion and inspire academic excellence.

The project underscores Hon. Passaris’s focus on tangible community development and reinforces his advocacy for improved educational infrastructure in Nairobi constituencies.

The new block is expected to serve hundreds of students for years to come, marking a major upgrade for Bidii Comprehensive School and its surrounding community.
