Former Trade Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya handed over the ministry to newly appointed Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui today at the NSSF building.CS Mvurya hands over Trade Ministry to CS Lee Kinyanjui.
The handover ceremony for the new Trade Cabinet Secretary, Lee Kinyanjui, took place drawing attendance from senior officials within the ministry. Kinyanjui expressed his intention to collaborate closely with outgoing CS Salim Mvurya and other ministry officials to meet the government’s goals.
Acknowledging the potential for company closures in light of the rapid technological advancements, he urged the media to focus on positive reporting that fosters hope and optimism in the public discourse surrounding these changes.
Kinyanjui emphasized the need for companies to implement internal reforms to effectively tackle their challenges and adapt to the complexities of today’s diverse industry landscape, shaped by new technologies and artificial intelligence.

He stated that the government is committed to fostering opportunities that will support the sustainability of current industries, enabling them to flourish. Additionally, he mentioned plans to establish new markets that will allow industries to prosper as innovative ideas emerge.
Kinyanjui noted that the government will focus on educating Kenyans to empower them to take advantage of the opportunities available to them. For his part, Mvurya urged his successor to prioritize the completion of ongoing projects.
