The Human Resource Management Professionals Examinations Board (HRMPEB) has certified a record 1,464 human resource professionals, including 25 pioneering candidates who qualified through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway, at its 7th Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) Certification Ceremony.
The board hosted the historic event at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, marking a new chapter in recognising professional competencies acquired through years of workplace experience.
The 25 RPL candidates made history as the first group to attain CHRP certification through an alternative pathway that assesses and recognises knowledge, skills and competencies gained through extensive professional experience. HRMPEB maintains rigorous assessment and quality assurance standards throughout the process.
HRMPEB Board Chairperson Commissioner Abdiwahab Abdullahi Abdi described the development as a major milestone in transforming Kenya’s human resource profession.
“Through RPL, we assess and recognise the competencies, knowledge and skills acquired by professionals over the years through practical work experience, ensuring that their expertise meets the rigorous standards required for professional certification,” he said.
The achievement comes as demand for CHRP certification grows, boosted by a government circular that encourages HR practitioners to pursue professional qualifications.
HRMPEB has expanded access to certification through three annual examination sittings, revised curricula and Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) programmes. The board’s cumulative certifications now reach 6,307 professionals.
HRMPEB continues to advance an inclusive, competent and accountable HR profession in Kenya.
