The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) has awarded Vivo Energy Kenya the Highest Throughput Performer Award for the 2025/26 financial year, recognizing the fuel marketer’s dominant role in utilizing national oil infrastructure.
KPC presented the award during its annual corporate recognition event, held as part of the global 2026 Customer Service Week celebrations. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Vivo Energy Kenya, which markets and distributes Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, has secured the flagship title.
Vivo Energy Kenya achieved a throughput of 1.5 billion litres in the last financial year. This volume represents 15% of the total fuel evacuated by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) through the national pipeline network. Throughput measures the amount of petroleum product moving through a specific facility over a set period.
The award highlights the company’s operational excellence and its capacity to maintain a reliable fuel supply chain for Kenyan motorists.
Leadership Commends Partnership
Speaking at the ceremony, Vivo Energy Kenya Business Support and Planning Manager Paul Kamau attributed the success to a robust logistics network and strong industry partnerships.
“I take this opportunity to acknowledge KPC’s leadership for honouring us again this year,” Kamau said. “Our expansive network relies heavily on these infrastructure efficiencies to drive innovation, uphold a rigorous quality focus, and deliver customer-centric value to Kenyan motorists every single day.”
Kamau added that the company integrates quality, safety, and reliability across its operations to support customer livelihoods.
KPC Acting Managing Director Pius Mwendwa praised the energy company’s performance, linking high pipeline utilization to national economic goals.
“We congratulate Vivo Energy Kenya for their continued leadership and high infrastructure utilization,” Mwendwa said. “By enhancing downstream supply chain efficiencies and ensuring absolute energy security, we continue to firmly position Kenya as a premier economic, trade, and industrial hub for the entire East African region.”
From Boardroom to Pump
The recognition event moved beyond corporate formalities by directly rewarding consumers. At the Shell station on Adams Arcade along Ngong Road, 100 motorists and bodaboda operators received free fuel top-ups immediately after refuelling.
The initiative reflects a shared commitment between KPC and Vivo Energy Kenya to support enterprise growth and national infrastructure development. By optimizing the flow of petroleum products from storage terminals to the pump, the partnership aims to drive sustainable economic progress for businesses and communities across the country.
