Mabati Rolling Mills Limited (MRM) hosted its first Fundi Connect event in Nairobi last week, bringing together local artisans (fundis) who install its roofing solutions. The event gave MRM an opportunity to recognise, reward and engage fundis for their craftsmanship, continued support and contribution to delivering quality roofing to customers.
Fundi Connect underscores MRM’s commitment to building strong, lasting relationships with the artisans who work directly with its products. Beyond celebrating their contribution, the initiative creates a platform for engagement, partnership-building and strengthening fundis’ understanding of MRM’s diverse range of building solutions.
Speaking at the event, Rittah Okello, Relationship Marketing Manager at MRM, highlighted the importance of recognising the artisans behind successful construction projects.
“Today marks our first-ever Fundi Connect event, an opportunity to celebrate the artisans who bring MRM’s products to life through their workmanship. Beyond supplying building materials, we want to recognise fundis as the unsung heroes behind the homes, malls and other construction projects across Kenya and beyond our borders,” she said.
Geoff Antony, Head of Sales and Retail at MRM, joined other members of the company’s leadership and marketing team at the event. MRM recognised and rewarded fundis for their continued support, with awards celebrating their dedication and contribution to promoting and installing MRM products.
Mark Murimi, one award recipient, expressed his appreciation for the recognition and MRM’s commitment to celebrating its installer network.
“Today is a special day, and I sincerely appreciate MRM for organising this event to recognise and reward fundis and contractors who promote its products to customers. I have been using MRM Versatile on my projects, and I am grateful that my work and continued support have been recognised. Receiving this 55-inch television is truly rewarding, and I thank MRM for appreciating the contribution we make as fundis,” he said.
MRM continues to invest in the professional development of fundis through its Installer Training Programme, which equips artisans with practical skills and confidence to apply their knowledge on-site, deliver quality workmanship and help customers avoid unnecessary installation errors and costs. The programme strengthens their technical expertise, enhances their professional credibility and creates better livelihood opportunities, while positioning certified installers as trusted MRM brand ambassadors.
Skilled and knowledgeable fundis play an essential role in ensuring proper roofing installation and helping customers make informed decisions about their building needs. By understanding MRM’s range of solutions, installers can provide relevant recommendations, improve the quality of their workmanship and strengthen customer confidence in the durability and reliability of their roofs.
Through Fundi Connect and its installer training initiatives, MRM continues to recognise the value of local artisans, nurture lasting partnerships and promote quality installation practices, reinforcing its commitment to customer satisfaction and building with confidence.
