UDA Party to Conduct Grassroots Elections in 22 Counties

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has announced plans to hold grassroots elections on April 11th and 12th, 2025, in 22 counties across the nation.

The National Steering Committee and the National Elections Board convened today to finalize preparations for Phase 2 of the UDA Grassroots elections. This follows the successful completion of Phase 1, which saw elections conducted in five counties.

The 22 counties set to participate in the upcoming elections include Bungoma, Garissa, Isiolo, Kajiado, Kilifi, Kisii, Kisumu, Kitui, Kwale, Lamu, Machakos, Makueni, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Migori, Mombasa, Nyamira, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Tana River, and Turkana.

So far, 113,800 candidates have registered to contest in these elections. The party has opened candidate registration on its online portal, UDA.ke, and will accept applications until midnight on Friday, March 21, 2025.

The party emphasized the significance of these elections in strengthening democracy and ensuring community representation.

“Grassroots elections are vital in amplifying the voices of our communities and empowering local leaders who are responsive and accountable to the people,” stated a UDA spokesperson.

The party’s foresight strategy prioritizes participatory leadership as a cornerstone of its democratic framework, aiming to foster true democracy by encouraging citizen engagement in the political process.

To ensure a seamless and transparent electoral process, the UDA has procured over 10,000 digital gadgets. These devices will facilitate a digital electronic voting system designed to deliver open, free, and fair elections with instantaneous results upon the closure of polls.

This innovative approach underscores the party’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance democratic practices.The UDA urges all interested members to register and participate in this pivotal moment in the nation’s democratic journey.
