The Hub Karen Celebrates 10 Years with Month-Long Festival of Family, Fun, and Community

By Eddah Waithaka

The Hub Karen marked its 10th anniversary today with a vibrant launch, kicking off a month-long programme of activities that celebrate its status as one of Nairobi’s leading family entertainment and lifestyle destinations.

Throughout July, visitors can enjoy free community events, wellness activities, fashion showcases, and curated food experiences.

Over the past decade, The Hub Karen has grown into one of Nairobi’s largest and most dynamic lifestyle hubs. The mall boasts East Africa’s first and longest mall-based zipline and The Hub Park, Kenya’s largest indoor family entertainment centre, featuring a wide range of games and attractions.

“Celebrating ten years is about giving back to the community that has supported us from the beginning,” said Jacobus Visser, Mall Manager of The Hub Karen.

“Throughout July, customers can look forward to exclusive shopping and dining offers, family-friendly activities, live entertainment and a range of experiences designed to make every visit memorable. The loyalty and trust of our customers have shaped The Hub Karen into the destination it is today. As we celebrate this milestone, we reflect on a decade of shared memories while looking forward with confidence and excitement to the next chapter of serving our community.”

Today, The Hub Karen houses more than 95 local and international tenants, including supermarkets, gyms, medical clinics, fashion retailers, toy stores, and family entertainment venues. Recent additions such as M.P. Shah Hospital and the OPPO Mobiles experience store have further strengthened the mall’s diverse retail offering. The mall now welcomes tens of thousands of visitors every week, reflecting its scale and the enduring loyalty of Nairobi’s community.

Beyond retail, The Hub Karen distinguishes itself through its commitment to sustainability. It became the first open-air mall in the region to integrate green energy, with sections of the mall powered by a 450 kW solar installation.

The mall also champions environmentally responsible practices, including water recycling and other initiatives that support its long-term environmental goals.

The Hub Karen’s tenth anniversary reflects the vision that has guided the mall since its inception: enhancing quality of life by creating spaces where communities can connect, grow, and thrive. A decade later, that vision continues to shape the mall’s next chapter.

“We have always believed that a shopping centre should be more than a place to shop. It should be a place where people come together, families create memories, and communities thrive,” added Mr Visser. “As we enter our next decade, we will continue to invest in making The Hub Karen an even more vibrant lifestyle destination for everyone.”

All 10th-anniversary activities are free and open to the public throughout July at The Hub Karen Mall.
