The INUKA Vocational Youth Empowerment Program launches, offering hands-on training in welding, electrical work, and industrial attachments to bridge the skills gap and champion gender inclusion.
The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Foundation has launched a new vocational wing of its flagship INUKA initiative, directly targeting youth from communities near its installations with practical, high-demand skills.
The newly launched INUKA Vocational Youth Empowerment Program will empower 31 young people from 14 villages across Nairobi’s Mukuru area.
The cohort will undergo six months of intensive training at the Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas (MIOG) in Welding and Fabrication and Electrical Installation Technology, followed by a three-month industrial attachment.
The program underscores a strong commitment to gender equality, with 13 of the selected trainees being young women entering these traditionally male-dominated technical fields.

Speaking at the launch, KPC Managing Director and KPC Foundation Chair, Mr. Joe Sang, said the expansion responds directly to the evolving needs of Kenyan youth.“At KPC, we believe education is the most powerful equalizer.
By expanding the INUKA Program to include vocational training, we are responding directly to the realities facing our youth,” stated Mr. Sang. “Technical skills equip young people with market-relevant competencies that open pathways to formal employment, entrepreneurship, and long-term economic stability.”
Dr. Nancy Kosgei, Director of the Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas, hailed the partnership. “The expansion of the INUKA programme is a timely and impactful intervention. We are pleased to support an initiative that directly responds to the skills needs of the energy and industrial sectors while uplifting neighbouring communities,” she said.
The KPC Foundation continues to advance its core mission of providing inclusive, equitable, and quality education to learners from marginalized communities across Kenya.
This vocational program marks a strategic step in translating that mission into tangible skills and economic opportunity for the youth.
