M-Net joins a massive global content push this week, premiering the sweeping historical series King & Conqueror on 12 February at 21:00 CAT. This launch marks a first for CANAL+, which licenses the series, as it rolls out the show simultaneously in over 40 countries across Europe and Africa.
The eight-part British drama thrusts viewers into the brutal power struggle of 1066. After King Edward’s death leaves the English throne empty, Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy ignite a fierce war for the crown. Their clash culminates in the legendary Battle of Hastings, a conflict that reshaped a nation and a continent for centuries.
Award-winning actors James Norton (Happy Valley) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) headline the series as the rival leaders Harold and William. The cast also features Emily Beecham, Clémence Poésy, Juliet Stevenson, Eddie Marsan and Jean-Marc Barr.
Creator and executive producer Michael Robert Johnson leads a formidable production team. Executive producers include stars Norton and Coster-Waldau, Baltasar Kormákur (Everest), and CBS Studios.
“M-Net takes pride in partnering with CANAL+ for this unprecedented global rollout,” said Waldimar Pelser, Director of Premium Channels at MultiChoice. “King & Conqueror tells an epic tale with sheer power and ambition. We believe it will deeply resonate with audiences across the continent.”
The series promises a gripping depiction of the dynastic war that forged medieval Europe. Coster-Waldau also steps behind the camera, co-directing episodes with Baltasar Kormákur and others.
Catch the battle for the crown on M-Net (DStv Channel 101) from Monday, 12 February at 21:00 CAT. The series will also be available on DStv Stream and Catch Up.
