Pwani Oil FC Gains Vital Experience in FKF Cup Clash Against Sharks

Lower-division side Pwani Oil FC tested its mettle against Premier League opposition on Saturday, facing Kariobangi Sharks in a Mozzart Bet FKF Cup Round of 64 fixture at KPA Mbaraki Stadium.

The match offered the regional league team a rare chance to compete against top-tier talent. Though they exited the tournament, Coach Kwoba highlighted the encounter’s immense developmental value.

“It was a nice experience for the boys,” Kwoba said after the match. “The technical team and players have learnt from the best. My boys did well against a very active, experienced league side. They were worthy opponents.”

He emphasized that such high-level exposure forces rapid adaptation and builds essential resilience. “These are the moments that build teams,” Kwoba stated. “When you face strong opposition, you understand where you are and where you need to go.”

Team Manager Jeremiah Okaalo praised the squad’s mentality. “The boys did their best; they played their game and they live to fight another day,” Okaalo said.

He noted the team maintained its identity and competed with determination throughout the challenge.The fixture formed part of Pwani Oil FC’s participation in the broader FKF National Football Tournament, a platform designed to nurture talent and promote community engagement through sport.
