More than 500 African athletes set to compete as SuperSport delivers dedicated coverage across DStv and GOtv platforms
CANAL+ has confirmed that the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will broadcast live on SuperSport across Sub-Saharan Africa, bringing 11 days of world-class sporting action to millions of viewers.
The global showpiece, taking place from 23 July to 2 August in Glasgow, Scotland, will be available to Access customers on DStv, DStv Stream, GOtv and GOtv Stream. Two dedicated channels will provide comprehensive coverage, with a third channel featuring Mozambican athletes on SuperSport Maximo 2 and 3.
David Mignot, CANAL+ Africa and MultiChoice CEO, said: “We are pleased to confirm the broadcast rights for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, which will be available on SuperSport to our DStv and GOtv Access subscribers, with a dedicated focus on the African athletes who will aim to do their countries and the continent proud at this major global athletics showpiece”.
The event features 10 exhilarating sports and six para sports across four iconic Glasgow venues: Scotstoun Stadium, Scottish Event Campus, Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome and Arena, and Tollcross International Swimming Centre.
African Stars to Watch
Nigeria arrives with one of the continent’s strongest teams, led by former world record holder Tobi Amusan, reigning Commonwealth long jump champion Ese Brume, and world-class weightlifters Rafiatu Lawal and Adijat Olarinoye. Ghana fields an explosive sprint squad featuring Benjamin Azamati, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Joseph Paul Amoah, and high jump star Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah.

South African fans eagerly anticipate swimming legend Chad le Clos, who aims to add to his remarkable 18 Commonwealth medals, while sprint ace Akani Simbine headlines an exciting athletics squad alongside world champion swimmer Pieter Coetzé.
East Africa’s renowned distance-running pedigree features prominently, with Tanzania’s Alphonse Simbu, Gabriel Geay, Jackline Sakilu, and emerging talent Joseph Panga. Francophone nations boast global icons Soufiane El Bakkali and Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith, alongside Senegal’s Louis François Mendy and Côte d’Ivoire sprint sensation Arthur Cissé.
